Judge Robert Coplan, who died Nov. 9 after a battle with cancer, "was a good judge and a good man," Snively said at his longtime friend's funeral.

The state Commission on Judicial Conduct on Friday suspended indicted El Paso judges Regina Arditti and Sissy Hernandez.
Both will continue to receive their salaries.
State grand jurors charged them a day earlier with violating a misdemeanor Texas law that prohibits judges from engaging in nepotism.

For the first time in 38 years, Chief Justice Lyonpo Sonam Tobgye did not go to work on Monday.
He spent his first day of retirement, November 16, "doing absolutely nothing".
As he spoke to Kuensel yesterday evening, while taking a stroll outside his home in Changedaphu, below the Buddha statue, the 60-year-old Chief Justice said: "I'm at home relaxing. I didn't even check my email or read on the first day after retiring."

In the equivalent of an appeals court decision, the Standard Oil Company of New Jersey has been ruled "an illegal combination operating in restraint of trade."
Frank B. Kellogg, United States special prosecutor, said the government won the case on every point argued.
The company is ordered to cease all operations.

The Grand Traverse County prosecutor won a Michigan Court of Appeals ruling allowing him to investigate retailer Meijer Inc. for possibly criminally tampering in failed 2005 referendum and 2007 recall elections for a proposed Acme Township supercenter project.
